I mark the start of the spring pollen season when the elm tree near the office blooms.  Right on schedule, it was out as of yesterday, February 22nd.  Some of the silver maples are already out as well, and the majority of them will be in bloom within a week.

I’ve watch this tree for approximately 15 years, and have noted it has bloomed between March 19 and March 23 every year.  It’s just one example proving that day length controls time of bloom versus weather which has little effect.
