Maria Cahill is compiling a list of Oregon Arbor Day events to publish in her newsletter. If you know of any interesting — and open to the public — events, post them here.
Even if you don’t know of any upcoming events, I thought this might be a good place to start a discussion on IDEAS for Arbor Day events that are not the traditional tree planting. For example, in the mid-1990s, the City of Albany actually cut down some old, old, rotten bigleaf maples as a public education event during Arbor Week. It turned out to be great “PR” for the City for its efforts to keep the public safe and informed, and it helped launch the city as a Tree City USA.
