With the assistance of grants from the Federal Forest Service, Nevada Division of Forestry has completed a Canopy Study of the Las Vegas Valley. This study combines information on city boundaries, zoning, and ownership with aerial maps of vegetation, hard surfaces and buildings resulting in maps that can pinpoint how much green cover we have, what kind it is and where it is in real space. This information is tremendously useful to planning how to improve or increase the tree cover and green spaces in the city. A nice overview of this study was presented by NDF RMO, Adria DeCorte. Her powerpoint is available here for further information on the results of the study.LVV%20Canopy%20Analysis%20Powerpoint%202012%20ADRIA.pdf
