To order trees or for more information, please visit http://www.midamericanenergy.com/iowa_plantsomeshade.

These programs are designed to decrease energy consumption through proper tree placement and are funded by Alliant Energy and MidAmerican Energy.  We recommend planting trees within 30 feet your house on the west or east sides for best cooling effects.

Due to recent Emerald Ash Borer infestations, we are also recommending planting a different species of tree within 30 feet of  any ash tree you have which you will not plan on treating.  This will give you a replacement tree once the ash succumbs to EAB

The fall 2013 distributions will be offering over 35 different species throughout the state, and homeowners are encouraged to increase species diversity in their own neighborhood through this program.

The trees are container grown in #5, #7, or #10 containers, and are between 3′ and 9′ tall, depending upon species.  They cost $25 – $30 per tree, with 2 trees allowed per household. Advance ordering is required.
