I have been in the business of trees for over 40 years.  I always get asked to put a value on damaged trees.  Mainly for insurance purposes.  I can give a replacement value-that isn’t the problem.  You can’t replace a 12″ caliber tree.  The actual value of that tree is worth alot more than what you can replace it for.  Back in 1980 the University of MN put out a publication called Shade Tree Evaluation.  I haven’t seen anything like it since.  So my question is:  What do other estimators do to come up with a fair value to a damage tree?
