Zombie, Sports, Cola, and Trees: Implications for Communicating Climate Change

Using humor and science in his presentation, Dr. Shepherd (professor and atmospheric scientist) will discuss the challenges and opportunities with communicating climate change to the public, stakeholders, and policymakers.
Dr. J. Marshall Shepherd was the 2013 President of American Meteorological Society (AMS), the nation’s largest and oldest professional/science society in the atmospheric and related sciences. He serves as Director of the University of Georgia’s (UGA) Atmospheric Sciences Program and Full Professor in the Department of Geography where he is Associate Department Head.
Shepherd is also the host of The Weather Channel’s Weather Geeks, a pioneering Sunday talk show dedicated to science, and he is a contributor to Forbes Magazine. Dr. Shepherd routinely appears on national media outlets like CNN, The Weather Channel, CBS’s Face The Nation and more. He also provides expertise to NASA, NOAA, The White House, Congress, and other stakeholders. (Provided by TED)

Parking Information for the Trees Atlanta Kendeda Center:
There is limited parking at the Trees Atlanta Kendeda Center itself. Additional parking is available along some of the neighborhood streets, including Chester Avenue, Fulton Terrace, and Harold Avenue.
Please be mindful of signs letting you know whether parking is available only on one side of the street, as is the case with Chester Avenue near the Trees Atlanta Kendeda Center.
For larger events, overflow parking may be available in the vacant lot at the northwest corner of Memorial Drive and Chester Avenue. You will see signage indicating whether parking is available in this lot for specific events.
