2020 Online i-Tree Academy Live Sessions
January 22 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST
Please Join Us… You Will Be Glad You Did!
The US Forest Service, the i-Tree Project Team and several key partners are offering, via the web, a live online training called the “i-Tree Academy: Learning the Tools”, designed to introduce i-Tree tools to i-Tree users. The Academy will be delivered by experienced members of the i-Tree project team, with the goal of helping users utilize the i-Tree software suite of tools which can be used to inventory, assess and report on the value of urban forests and greenspace.
The course consists of bi-monthly online web sessions over a 5-month period (7 online classes) self-paced learning modules, assignments and completion of a student-developed project. Participants will be able to focus on a specific urban forestry issue of interest to them. Each month participants will complete assignments and reading related to the two-hour online web-meetings. The goal of the course is to develop a cadre of individuals who can use i-Tree training to complete community projects, or conduct basic i-Tree Training for others.
The instructional components of the “i-Tree Academy: Learning the Tools” program will be delivered in a series of online sessions and will require participants to complete assignments and reading beyond the (7) 2-2.5 hour online web meetings. The goal of the program is to develop a cadre of individuals who can then deliver i-Tree training to others. At this time, the course is limited to participants from the U.S., due to the database limitations of several i-Tree components that are part of the Academy curriculum. Please stay tuned for information on an International i-Tree Academy coming during the third quarter of 2020.
The course begins on January 22, 2020, via the web. Course sessions will be from 12:00-2:00 PM (Eastern) via the web. Independent work is required and there will be short assignments to complete, intended to have students explore opportunities for utilizing i-Tree in their professional or volunteer work. Registration for the i-Tree Academy is now open, and the deadline to register is January 10, 2020. To register, see below.

i-Tree allows any community to conduct and analyze sample or compete street tree inventory data, and make estimates of the structure, function and value of these components of your urban forest. Baseline data can be used to effectively manage the resource, develop policy and set priorities. Looking at information collected on existing street trees, this software allows managers to evaluate current benefits, costs, and management needs.
