Seattle is home to an estimated 40,000 street trees. Not only does the urban canopy beautify the town but it wreaks havoc on the sidewalks. But what can be done to mitigate the damage caused by underlying tree roots as they continue to flourish in urban communities? There are over 2300 miles of sidewalk, and a recent sidewalk assessment showed that approximately 12% of sidewalk related defects may be relatable to trees. This webinar led by Darren Morgan, ISA certified arborist and municipal specialist, hopes to devise a plan that will be in favor of both living and nonliving aspects of Seattle's urban environments.
