The City of Winterville is holding its first Tree Talk Monday, October 22, 2018, from 6-8pm on ways to identify and manage invasive plants in urban and community forests.
An expert panel will provide an overview of invasive plants in the Athens and Winterville area and programs and resources to better manage our forests. Expert speakers include Lauren Muller (Invasive Plant Manager Coordinator, Athens Land Trust), Gary Crider (Memorial Park Weed Warriors Manager), Joey Allen (Shade & Dunson Native Flora Garden Curator, The State Botanical Garden of Georgia), Seth Hawkins (Regional Specialist, Georgia Forestry Commission- Sustainable Community Forestry Program, and Roger Cauthen (City Arborist, City of Winterville). There will also be a short presentation on the benefits of woodlands and an overview of the Winterville Commemorative Tree Program.
A potluck will accompany the Tree Talk. Please bring a dish to share. :)
There will be door prizes and free information. FREE ADMISSION.
