Join us for Georgia Urban Forest Council’s First Quarterly program and the 2015 State Arbor Day Event on Wednesday, February 18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Oval Hall at Wesleyan College, 4760 Forsyth Road, Macon. Dr. Ed Gilman, Professor of Environmental Horticulture at the University of Florida and a leading researcher and educator in tree selection, urban design, nursery production, and urban tree management, will be our keynote speaker for the day. Dr. Gilman will present practical guidance on the planting and pruning of younger trees, as well as on innovative root management techniques and will also present an outdoor pruning demonstration. After lunch, we’ll enjoy the State Arbor Day Ceremony, when Arbor Day Foundation President Dan Lambe will help us recognize new and renewing Tree City USA communities, Tree Campus USA colleges, and Tree Line USA utilities present. To round out the event, Wesleyan’s Dr. James Ferrari will give an update on the Wesleyan College Arboretum and lead a guided tour.
