Thanks for the welcome, Neil. I've no idea how City of Atlanta describes skill sets, thankfully, and I'm still defining this new role as Senior Arborist in Office of Parks. While our two field Arborists will focus more on Forestry operations (tree risk assessment, code enforcement, and arboricultural prescription,) I'm undertaking most of our reforestation on public lands (i.e. contract management and audit.)

Great to be a part of the American Grove family. I'm so glad there is a place online where I can communicate with other Tree Huggers and Nature lovers and share our passions. Keep up the great work that you do and I will try to hold up my end of the bargain as well (won't be too hard, lol). More pictures from my hometown of Los Angeles coming soon.
Treely yours,
James

Ah, thanks for the tip, and for replying to my little rant. I finally found the spot to post a comment on someone's profile. I agree that non-members, especially, should not be able to send messages to members. I am not sure what the platform engine will support, but perhaps it could be possible to reply discreetly to emails between members, to maintain a continuous thread. It was frustrating not to be able to reply directly to Laura's request. I did end up posting a comment with an email address on one of Laura's posts and we have gotten together on her request. Of course, the address has now been exposed to the public which is not ideal.
Also, thank you for adding the badge on the profile photo. I agree it does look nifty.
Thanks for the compliment on my profile pic, Jesse. This creek runs through a park in Kansas City, along a much used trail. Let's hear it for urban forests!
Yes Neil I have worked with her numerous times. Actually each year that we have received Tree City Status!! 7 years in a row!!! I just seen her on Monday night at our council meeting!! Love her!!
I have 2 tress that are starts from one that Johnny Appleseed planted. They bloomed nicely this year so I will post their picture soon. I am sure that when American Greetings was selling the special sympathy cards they were donating to conservation project where hundreds of trees were being planted at one time. I was thinking of one of those types of projects so that you could purchase several cards at a time and have them on hand when needed. I'll keep trying to find someone interested. Thanks for your comments.
As a matter of fact, it was probably my sister who just joined American Gorve. She lives in San Diego and we are both members of the Johnny Appleseed Chapman Foundation. I do have a request. For several years I was able to purchase a Sympathy Card made by American Greetings Cards that said with the purchase of this card a tree has been planted in memory of your loved one. They stopped making the cards and I have tried to find anyone else to make this available. It was so special to the people to whom I sent the card and I would love to be able to continue. The cards were only $2 at the time and I think even if they were $4-5 many people would purchase them to have on hand when they needed to send a sympathy card to a friend or family. I can come up with more details if there is anyway you would be willing to take on this project. I have suggested it to the American Forestry Group who has worked with the Johnny Appleseed Society on planting trees that are starts from a tree they determined Johnny Appleseed planted but have not heard anything from them. I would love to talk to someone about my suggestion. Cordially, Marlen Mathias
Thanks for the kind words! Eric Seaborn is our state coordinator, but I enjoy using the Grove to share what's happening in MA with a wider audience and hear what other states and communities are doing.

Hello-
I'm a new member.
The link in the message I received from you this morning, to link to the Colorado group, displayed this message:

-Is it an issue on my end, or yours?

Oh wow.....I really wish I hadn't missed your message & the contest, but thanks SO much for thinking of me.....
Thanks! I didn't realize I had done that with my blog post. I changed it and reposted it.
Thank you Neil. I will include pictures of the Arboretum in the future. You may want to take a look at our website and blog.

Thanks, Neil. It's always good to get a gold "star".

Thanks for the great information about the Kentucky Grove, Neil!
I can not take credit for my profile pic. It is from Birds & Blooms magazine.
Thanks Neil - I will look forward to the updated page!
Chris
Thanks - One thing I forgot to mention today, is that it would be nice if we could comment on comments. Is that possible to add?
