The General Sherman Sequoia
The General Sherman sequoia is the largest tree in the world and lives in Kings Canyon National Park in California. The tree is approximately the height of a 27 story building (about 275 feet) and if laid horizontally, would take up all but 9 yards of the length of a football field. General Sherman is estimated to be about 2,500 years old, making this not only the largest known living tree in the world, but also one of the oldest.
Kings Canyon National Park is broken up into five sub-parks, with General Sherman in the Giants Forest part of the park. This specific section offers visitors more than 40 miles of hiking trails, two of which lead directly to the General Sherman sequoia. The park also offers daily shuttle rides for those than cannot easily navigate the trails on foot.

Simply amazing. Every person should try to see these trees in person. My brother and I saw some of the redwoods in NoCal a few years ago. Words don't do them justice! By the way, you might like this book - The Wild Trees:
