Did you know the urban forests of Charlotte, NC have been documented by UNC-Charlotte scientists to be an ideal habitat for Barred Owls? Who would have thought that Charlotte's urban forests could support an average of 2 Barred Owl pairs per square mile! Thanks to large, mature Willow Oaks with plenty of big holes for nesting and an open understory for ideal hunting. See the following link for info from UNCC. http://www.bioweb.uncc.edu/bierregaard/barred_owls.htm
