What trees to plant?

I have been researching the right tree to plant on a site for a project I am working on. I have no problem selecting plantings that I would normally use for a project in this region, but I recently heard something about a recommended plant list by our MA Foresters associations, and have not had any luck finding such a list... so I am assuming it does not exist. So... question... Do any of my fellow members here know of such a list?

I am working in an area in southeastern Mass., on a…

Earth Day takes on new roots at Virginia Tech

With millions celebrating Earth Day, April 22, it took on a sentimental meaning Monday at Virginia Tech.  The university replanted a historic sycamore tree nearly three years after the original was cut down.  Two forestry professors are credited with cloning the tree which dates back to 1870.

After more than 140 years of standing tall, the tree started to decay and become a safety hazard which is why Virginia Tech cut it down.

"We replace trees all the time on campus.…

Winchester Virginia Urban Wood Utlization

An innovative solution was developed through multiple partnerships that allowed for the elimination of any wood material going to the landfill and at the same time providing benefits to all cooperating partners. Lumber and slabs of wood are cut from logs by a local sawmill, firewood…

These days it seems there are many options for collecting tree inventory data from tablets, and mobile phones.

Are there really "tons" of options out there?

What are you using? - What are the drawbacks and advantages?

Anyone have experience with how well the spatial location works…
