I plant trees because....
To make the world beautiful, for shelter from the sun for us, our house, our dogs, chickens and other critters, for wildlife food and shelter, for people food, to help keep the road dust out of our yard, for a windbreak, to keep the neighbors' yard lights from our view at night, for firewood and Christmas trees, to stabilize our creek banks, for apples for our horse's grave out in the pasture.
