"Nick - I'm viewing photo on phone - it looks like the bark on the bottom half of trunk is missing. Is that an optical illusion?"

"- the polysaccharide you speak of - augarosa - is a natural substance. What type of plabnt material is it found in? Do you have to process the plant material to extract it? It sounds like a discovery that could potentially change the world!"

Tree planting story Denmark Tennessee

During January of 1999, I was working out in my garden on an unusually warm day when a storm blew up light rain followed by hail. My brother and I watched the storm from the front porch and when it quit he turned to leave. Suddenly he stopped, cocked his head and asked me if I could hear the wind. Anytime you can hear it and not feel it, it must be pretty bad wind. At his assistance I followed him to his house as we lived six miles in the Estanaula bottom with one else around. Before we could…See More

Memorial tree

First I must apologize for the tardiness of this post. Jennifer Smith's mother passed earlier this month and it was my intent to propose a memorial tree planting. Apparently my intial blog didn't post so this is not as timely as I would have hoped for. Ideally the site would be in Nashville but because I don't live there, I'm proposing Liberty Gardens in Jackson Tennessee. I'm open to any suggestions however. Anyone interested in contributing to this memorial please contact me at…See More

"For west tennessee - Please be aware of the burn ban. With 53 days with no rain, drought conditions are favorable for wildfires. Be aware of cigarettes especially. Throwing butts out while traveling can ignite dry material and on a windy day fire…"

Willow Legacy

Thought this story might be relavent in terms of legacy. Back in 1999, we were in the tornados that ravished West Tenneessee that year. I lost everything I had and so did my brother and his family. We felt that we were blessed to have escape with our lives as we were all at home and no warning - we were unprepared for the diaster.

While cleaning up afterwards, my nine-year-old niece found an old coffee can I was using to start some tree liners of curly willow. We both cried…
