Phytoremediation Tree Planting (Montgomery, Alabama)

Phytoremediation Tree Planting (Montgomery, Alabama)

The City of Montgomery, Alabama used US Forest Service funds awarded through the Alabama Forestry Commission to plant 366 eastern cottonwood cuttings as a phytoremediation project. The trees will help extract chlorine solvents that threaten the Alabama River. Over 35,000 square feet of parking lot asphalt was removed for the green infrastructure project.
