Big firs on steep slope

Huge, old-growth Douglas firs in Oxbow Regional Park east of Gresham, Oregon--originally preserved by Multnomah County and now managed by Metro of the Portland Metropolitan Area.  They are up to 500 years old, with heights of 290 ft. and girths of over 8 feet (dbh).  Among the world's tallest trees within close proximity to a large metropolitan area (outside of the CA coast redwoods near Santa Cruz).  Image by Darvel Lloyd, Portland, OR.
