GENERAL POST: IDNR recommends that citizens work with their local municipal forester to determine the make-up of their municipal forest. Municipalities are encouraged to inventory their local forest, and all are encouraged to plant no more than 5 to 10 percent of one species in their municipality. Trees with a mature height of more than 30 feet and crown spread of greater than 15 feet should not be planted within 15 feet of utility wires.
