Florida Ficus

For years this Ficus benjamina grew smack dab in the middle of Tigertail avenue close to the intersection of SW 27th Ave in Coconut Grove, A neighborhood of Miami known for its Canopy. When street amplification threatened its existence, tree advice group Coconut Grove Treewatch went to the county in support of the tree, arguing that a tree in the middle of the street not only showed respect for the tree, buts was the essence of Coconut Grove. The county relented, and took the time to move the tree a few feet over to a new roundabout in the middle of the intersection. Every time we enter the Grove through 27th ave. My husband and I are grateful that Miami-Dade county listened, and the tree smiles back from its new home.
