  • The American Chestnut Foundation (www.acf.org) is working on restoring this tree to eastern forests. A now retired coworker, Dale Higdon, and I planted some of the backcrosses in Gwinnett County, GA through the Georgia Chapter of the ACF. The research and education by Dr. Martin Cipollini of Berry College in Rome, GA is exciting. I hope to see this once common and major forest species, a #greatamericantree, make a comeback!
