 , earth-friendly afternoon as we celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day wit
 h special guests from the Town of Greenburgh, and kick-off our new yea
 r-round volunteer campaign.\nEarth Day is widely credited with launchi
 ng the modern environmental movement. Arbor Day celebrates a day for t
 ree planting. At the Nature Center, we celebrate both of these special
  days by working with volunteers to spruce up our grounds, prepare our
  garden beds, clear our trails, and do other projects while providing 
 educational information for the public.\nThis year, the Town of Greenb
 urgh, which was recently named a Tree City USA Community by the Arbor 
 Day Foundation for the second consecutive year, is joining us to celeb
 rate Arbor Day at the Nature Center. The presentation portion of the p
 rogram begins at 2pm with the reading of the Town’s Arbor Day Procla
 mation by Town Forestry Officer, Aaron Schmidt. Immediately followingÂ
  will be the ceremonial planting of a tree on the Nature Center’s g
 rounds with New York State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins. SavATree wi
 ll then provide a planting demonstration and discussion on root collar
  disorders. Afterwards, attendees will have an opportunity to visit ed
 ucational tables courtesy of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Westches
 ter County. The first 100 attendees will receive a free tree seedling
