Tree ID please

I just bought property in Florida and these trees were trimmed back.  Can someone please tell me what they are?

  • Hi, Dave:

I checked with Charlie Marcus of Legacy Arborist Services in San Antonio, FL, and he said, "The pictures of the wood and the leaves would indicate to me that the tree in question is waxmyrtle, or southern bayberry. Latin name is currently Morella cerifera, and was Myrica cerifera. Common understory and midstory tree or shrub on moist Florida soils. Also often used as a hedge."
