Kristal Walsh of Florida Grove asks a good question.
I am looking for some creative ways to repair walkways (formerly paved sidewalks) which have been broken and uplifted by tree roots. Are there any creative ways to fix the sidewalks around the tree roots without damaging the tree?

Thank you all so much for the great responses! What a great resource - The Grove!
Kristal,
Penn State Extension just had a webinar on Protecting Trees During Sidewalk Repair. Take a look at the recording https://meeting.psu.edu/p4u1mq9ms3i/ There is also lots of good stuff online - publications, etc.
Dr Ed Gilman at the University of Florida has posted information about a variety of alternatives for managing tree root and sidewalk damage. http://hort.ifas.ufl.edu/woody/urban-sidewalk.shtml.
Here is a video I composed with Spence Rosenfeld on Root Bridging.
Thanks, Neil! I will check this out!

Thanks Neil for posting. I am not an avid user of the Grove but would love to use it for more brainstorming sessions! I'll share the information Ed Gillman has provided via Charlie Marcus. I will definitely be using a couple of these options for sidewalk replacement projects here at Hurlburt! http://hort.ifas.ufl.edu/woody/urban-sidewalk.shtml
Root bridging works great. Check out http://www.bartlett.com/resources/Sidewalk-Repair-Near-Trees.pdf
